For as long as we can all remember, the beauty supply stores in our neighborhood are often dominated by Asian entrepreneurs and large corporations like L’Oréal and Procter & Gamble. Black people purchase nine times more beauty and grooming products and only own 1% of the market share.
We are so excited to see Black entrepreneurs working to reclaim the Billion dollar industry.
This week we had a chance to catch up with Cynthia, Owner of Royal Cyn Beauty Supply Store in Baldwin, and the first to own a business in her family.
Cynthia has been in the hair and beauty industry since 2016 when she founded her online business Royal Cyn Hair – one of New York’s Hottest New Virgin Hair Company, which is still operating online today.
In 2019 Cynthia decided to step out on faith and open her first brick-and-mortar Royal Cyn Beauty Supply Store.
“I wanted to create a different shopping experience from some of the other beauty supply stores.”
Cynthia prides herself not only on the cozy, clean, and friendly environment she creates for her customers but also on the quality of products she offers online and in her store.
“I stand by the quality of our products, especially the hair.”
Royal Cyn carries everything from natural care products, styling tools, beauty products, and the best virgin hair around town. She also works with visitors to navigate products that substantially fits their needs.
“It’s important to keep my customers happy, and I want to see people feel good.”
We had a chance to visit her store, and we will say it by far is one of the most beautiful beauty supply stores we have ever been to.
